The process of lithographic offset printing works by transferring the image to be printed from a metal plate to a rubber blanket, then from the blanket to the paper. There is one plate for each colour. Most offset printing is made up of four colours, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. The plate is a flat piece of metal with a raised image area. The image is right reading on the plate, the plate is inked and then the ink is transferred on to the rubber blanket, at this stage the image is reversed. The blanket is coated in a thin film of water, the ink is oil based so it is repelled by the water. The inked blanket is them rolled on to the impression cylinder which holds the paper. The image is transferred onto the paper where it is once again right reading. The process is repeated for each colour. Offset Lithography is the most widely used process for printing onto paper. If you need commercial printing, MediatecPrint is the company for you.
